Kicking off a 40 Day Sadhana tomorrow.....

Sadhana simply defined is the technique of disciplining yourself. It is a practice, particularly when performed during the Amrit Vela, which resets your cycles and patterns to the rhythm of your ultimate aims, your Soul and the heartbeat of the Universe. It is this time of each day when the "veil" of the ego (limited self) is thinnest and so we can mindfully observe all the negative habits that lead you away from health, physical stamina, wholeness and higher consciousness and neutralize the desires underlying those habits one by one. Sadhana is a conscious activity to access the unlimited potential of your life through relating to and embracing the most mysterious aspects of our deep self - encountering the Knowable UnKnown and the UnKnowable Unknown. It is during the Amrit Vela, the 2 1/2 hours before sunrise, that prana concentrates and cleansing on all levels is more easily accomplished. Simply being aware, vertical and leaning in the right direction at this time has profound effects as the subconscious, which is usually tucked away and suppressed through tensions in the physical body, is right there on the surface and in our conscious awareness.

For the Buddhist, Hindu and for many other spiritual traditions the Amrit Vela is the acknowledged time for deep spiritual practice if you're privy to the monastic approach.
The Amrit Vela, the Nectar Time 2½ hours before dawn, when the world is transitioning and deeply still. It is a time when many souls are born or leave their bodies. From 2am - 6am is the most Satvic time, not being pulled by the Tamasic guna or the pushed by the Rajasic guna. There is no better opportunity to
overcome inertia and practice stillness.

I love RUMI.....

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill.
Where the two worlds meet.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.

Loving Summer.....

Half way through July....and having such an amazing summer. The weather has been fantastic and we have been creating some amazing memories the past few weeks! Jason has had quite a bit of time off so we have been getting outside every chance we can.

We have a giant old motorhome that we bought a couple years ago. I think that it is a 1982. Nothing fancy. If it was 1982 maybe. Bunk beds for the kids in the back.....full kitchen....full bathroom. Kinda like the Hilton...but totally different. Oh yeah, and it is all paid for.

Our first trip out this year was to Illecillewaet .
It is in Glacier National Park. We did a 5 hour hike to the glacier with our 4 year old and 6 year old kids.....Jason and I couldn't believe that they did the whole hike.....with no complaining at all. They thought that it was the best adventure ever....and couldn't wait to build a Inukshuk part way up. I continue to learn from them every moment I am in their presence.
Then we had a lazy camping trip.....stayed beside the beach for a couple nites...floated on the raft and played in the sand. And the following weekend was the same....hanging out camping with the kids and some great friends....and a couple drinks here and there.

I am loving the summer. I am in a good place. My life has seen quite a few changes as of late. I have totally taken a step back (or 10) from the competition/training world. I have been spending a very little time in the gym.....weights 3 days a week as compared to 5.....and little to no cardio in the gym. Only for the spin classes that I teach or if the weather is crappy. Outside cardio - road bike, mountain biking and trail running....
I feel like I spent so much time in the gym last year that I can't spend enough time away from there right now.
I did a 10 day Hot Yoga teacher training in June.....and will be heading to Saskatchewan in August for another 10 day teacher training with Ryan Leier. I have been teaching a Spin Yoga fusion class this summer.....$5 a class and they have been full since the first class! Half an hour of either strength or sprints followed by half an hour of infrared heated yoga hip opening sequence. Yoga is what has been missing in my life for the past year.....I am breathing again!! I love teaching yoga and creating positive energy. I love personal training and working with people that want to learn how to make their life healthier and more positive. I love what I do!!

My own studio is in the works. Not many details right now....but I am working hard on it. A few other things in the works as well. More info coming soon.....I have so many ideas going through this little head of mine.....just prioritizing!
